Waupaca Computer Consulting, LLC is a relatively new business located in Waupaca, Wisconsin.

• Do we have 100 employees? → No
• Do we sell computers? → No
• Do we install computers? → No
• Do we network computers? → No
• Well what DO we do then?

First off let's get rid of the "we". Waupaca Computer Consulting, LLC is a "one man" show, at least for now, and I need to clarify that the one "man" actually consists of one woman and that's me, Val Trisler. Now that we have that cleared up, let me tell you what I do. I am a computer programmer. What this means to you is that if you need a program to do something specific for you and it is not your typical program that you buy from the store, you call me and I write it for you. It ends up a little more complicated than that, but that gives you the basic idea.

So now you know what I do, but who am I? I was born and raised in Waupaca. For any of you not familiar with Waupaca, it's a small town located in central Wisconsin. What's unique about Waupaca is that outside of town there's what we call the Chain O' Lakes, consisting of 22 connecting lakes and also the Crystal River which is famous for canoe trips. I was uprooted from Waupaca while I was still in high school. My husband and I moved to Waupaca about three years ago. I have lived several different places in the time I was gone, including Florida, New Mexico and Indiana. Some of the towns I lived in were larger than Waupaca and some pretty close to the same size. But even the small ones were much different than Waupaca. I love the small town atmosphere here and everything that goes along with it. But what I think differentiates Waupaca from other small towns is the fact that it has been influenced by the outside world. That may sound a little crazy, but it's true. For a town of this size there's a lot going on here that doesn't necessarily go on in other towns of this size. Again, I think it's because of the influence from the outside world and the influx of people that come here in the summer and the ones who come here to stay. Anyway, it is a great place to live and all I can say is that it's really good to be back home.

Before moving back to Waupaca, I attended Indiana University Southeast and earned both a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science as well as an Associate of Science degree in Business, graduating with Highest Distinction in both. I think that ultimately, me being uprooted from Waupaca had a major impact on both my life in general and my career. Most likely if I had stayed in Waupaca, I would have attended college immediately after high school and who knows what I would have majored in. Because of moving away, I ended up not attending college right after high school. I had many different "careers" and found that none of them gave me the fulfillment I needed. I was bored and needed a challenge. Computers intrigued me and I knew that the way technology changes, I would never have to be bored again. The thing about going back to school as an adult is that you appreciate it more, you're more serious about learning and you know, not because someone told you, but from your own experience thus far in life, that the degree really is important. I will never regret not going to college right after high school because of the great learning experiences I had. Every job taught me something that I can use today.
